Ōpōtiki Harbour Development – a clear mandate to develop economic & social wealth

It was pleasing to be present at today's Applicant briefing for the investigation, design and construction of the Ōpōtiki Harbour Development project.

Robert Edwards, Chairman of Whakatōhea, is clearly a passionate supporter of the Harbour Development given the benefits it will bring to the community. The estimated R.O.I to the community, by way of new business development and employment was expressed numerically; an impressive ratio in itself. However what is really exciting, is the downstream social development that this initiative will bring to the lives of people in the district.

We'd like to congratulate the team at Ōpōtiki District Council for establishing a clear community mandate with a collaborative approach to planning and implementation. We look forward to seeing the Harbour Development come to fruition.
