Challenges when working in 35 degrees plus

Working in the Pacific and Indian Oceans anywhere near the equator presents its own challenges. The heat and humidity play havoc with personnel and equipment. Seeking shelter or protecting yourself from the sun while conducting small boat and foreshore topographic surveys is essential if you are working long hours. The local flora and fauna can prove provide their own challenges. These large Palm Spiders in the Seychelles are 15cm across and while not poisonous do give the unwary visitor a nasty shock when surveying in dense bush along the coastal margins. They don't tell you about this at survey school!
