Greg Cox

Greg is an IHO Cat A hydrographic surveyor with over 28+ years active experience in the survey industry. Greg's a former Royal New Zealand Navy Officer, achieving the rank of Lt Cdr and position of Deputy Hydrographer of the Navy. He left the Navy in 1997 to begin DML Surveys. Greg's acquired vast experience supervising projects throughout NZ and the Pacific and is a very practical surveyor with proven leadership skills. Greg is also a Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor (CPHS 1) and a member of the NZ Institute of Surveyors.

Bruce Wallen

Bruce is an IHO Cat A Hydrographic Surveyor with over 30 years experience in the survey industry. Bruce departed the RNZN in 1997 as a Lieutenant Commander to take on the Hydrographic Advisor role at Land Information New Zealand. While with LINZ, Bruce achieved many milestones in developing new initiatives and standards for the deregulated New Zealand hydrographic survey industry. Bruce joined DML in 2006 as the Auckland region Survey Manager and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors.

Declan graduated from Otago University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Surveying (BSurv) specialising in hydrographic surveying. The following year he completed the IHO FIG Cat A Course. Declan commenced work with DML in 2004. From 2007-2010 Declan undertook a variety of positions offshore returning to NZ in 2010. He is a qualified vessel skipper completing his Inshore Launch Master (ILM) certification in 2013. Declan is also a Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor (CPHS 1) and a member of the NZ Institute of Surveyors. He is one of our team leaders specialising in Multibeam surveying.

Jimmy graduated from Otago University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Surveying Degree. He has worked in a wide variety of industry sectors including oil and gas and construction, gaining particular experience in precise positioning and ROV operations. Working globally in some testing environments, Jimmy returned to NZ and took up a position with DML in 2013. He is a Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor (CPHS 1) and is a member of the NZ Institute of Surveyors.

Bevan graduated from Otago University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Surveying Degree and first began his career as a land surveyor, becoming licensed in 2004. Soon after Bevan changed tacks to hydrographic surveying and spent 10 years in the offshore construction industry providing surveying services for energy field developments worldwide. This included acoustic positioning of ROVs and large subsea structures, MBES surveys for bathymetry and pipelines, precise acoustic metrologies and at times working on nautical charting surveys in NZ. Bevan took up a position with DML in 2016. He is a member of the NZ Institute of Surveyors and commenced a PgDip CatA in 2013/14.

Dan Graham

Dan graduated from Otago University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Surveying (BSurv). During his university holidays he worked as a land surveyor in Tauranga and New Plymouth. Upon graduation he took up a role with Fugro Survey working in Perth, Australia. Here he gained experience as a hydrographic surveyor in MBES/SBES systems, and worked on the search for MH370. In 2016 he joined DML as a hydrographic surveyor.

Wade Roest

Wade is a highly experienced Survey Technician. He is DML's hydrographic survey technician at the Port of Tauranga. Wade worked for 16 years as a Land Survey Technician before gaining experience in hydrographic surveying. His strengths are in pre & post dredge surveys, coastal/river/environment surveys, port development surveys and land surveying. 


Kevin Smith

Kevin has 30 years experience in hydrography and IT stemming from roles in private industry and the RNZN. With knowledge of the marine spatial sector, electronic navigation and IT he has worked in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the UK. He is a member of the Australasian Hydrographic Society (AHS), Chairman of the AHS Awards Panel, Chairman of the AHS NZ Branch and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors with RPSurv practicing endorsements in GIS & Project Management.

Sally has over 25 years experience in Marketing and Business Management across a diverse range of companies and industries. Sally graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Management Studies from the University of Waikato. Sally guides strategic direction, and works with Kevin to manage general business functions including marketing, finance, compliance and business development.
