Field survey operations are supervised by International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) Category A surveyors. Our senior staff are mostly ex Royal New Zealand Navy hydrographic surveyors or have relevant Tertiary qualifications. Other staff members have relevant marine related skills.
DML provides QA services to a number of Clients and is also a regular Contractor to Land Information New Zealand in conducting high accuracy charting surveys within New Zealand.
Greg Cox
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Greg is an IHO Cat A hydrographic surveyor with over 25 years active experience in the survey industry. Greg was employed in the Royal New Zealand Navy for 13 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander and position of Deputy Hydrographer of the Navy. Greg departed in 1998 to establish Discovery Marine Ltd.
Greg has a huge amount of experience supervising over 200 hydrographic survey projects throughout NZ and the Pacific and is a very practical surveyor with proven leadership skills.

Bruce Wallen
SURVEY MANAGER
Bruce is an IHO Cat A Hydrographic Surveyor with over 26 years experience in the survey industry. Bruce departed the RNZN in 1997 as a Lieutenant Commander to take on the Hydrographic Advisor role for at Land Information NZ. While with LINZ, Bruce achieved many milestones in developing new initiatives and standards for the deregulated New Zealand hydrographic survey industry. Bruce joined DML in 2006 as the Auckland region Survey Manager.

Declan Stubbing
SENIOR SURVEYOR
Declan graduated from Otago University in 2003 with a Batchelor of Surveying (BSurv) and followed this up a year later with his Post Graduate Diploma in hydrographic surveying (IHO Cat A Course). Declan commenced work with DML in 2004 as a junior hydrographic surveyor. He departed DML in 2007 for job opportunities offshore and returned in 2010. Declan is now employed in a senior surveyor role.
